There once was a time when the death of major characters still mattered in comic books – and even more so in the case of DC Comics of the late ’80’s when The Flash, Supergirl and Jason Todd’s Robin all died – and stayed dead (at least for the time being…). In 1992, amid slagging sales and a delayed wedding storyline, DC editorial decided to do the unthinkable – and kill Superman.
