Chris/Lauren Spider-Verse artists say working on the sequel was “death by a thousand paper cuts” https://www.vulture.com/2023/06/spider-verse-animation-four-artists-on-making-the-sequel.html However, the four crew members say animators who were hired in the spring of 2021 sat idle for anywhere from three to six months that year while Lord tinkered with the movie in the layout stage, when the first 3-D representation of storyboards are created. As a result, these individuals say, they were pushed to work more than 11 hours a day, seven days a week, for more than a year to make up for time lost and were forced back to the drawing board as many as five times to revise work during the final rendering stage.

John Romita Sr., Legendary Marvel Artist, Dies at 93 https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/john-romita-sr-dead-marvel-artist-1235515094/ Romita’s run on Spider-Man saw the introduction of a number of the property’s most memorable characters, including Spidey love interest Mary Jane Watson and crime boss Kingpin; it was during Romita’s time as artist that Spider-Man overtook Fantastic Four to become Marvel’s top-seller, with the masked man becoming the face of the company. In 1972, Romita became Marvel’s unofficial art director, a role that was formalized a year later. He contributed to the design of characters including Luke Cage, the Punisher and Wolverine while training “Romita’s Raiders,” the in-house artists that would correct or replace pages deemed to be unusable, often without credit.
