FULFILLMENT

. I cam across a a story by Ken Jogi a author and neuro-scientist from Tokyo Japan, He calls it IKIGAI . IKI means to live and GAI means reason. The reason for which you wake up in the morning. I call it Life’s purpose or creating a reason to live . He goes on to say that in America we divide our adult life into two categories. Our work life and our retired life.

PURPOSE

Ken has done a study on the longest living people on the planet and he discovered some live in Okinawa, a group of islands south of mainland Japan. There isn’t even a word for retirement , instead there is simply IKIGAI, which essentially means the reason for which you wake up in the morning. Then he goes on to say the several reasons some of these people give. A 102 year old women gets up for her grandchild. Another gets up to teach marshal arts and so forth.

HAPPINESS

I say there are many reasons behind a long and happy healthy life. I think the answer can be likely a mix of good genes, diet and exercise, Studies have suggested that finding meaning in life is also a key component . Having a reason to live, a purpose doesn’t necessary guarantee for long levity. Studies show that having a sense of purpose can encourage one to build a happy and active life.

MOTIVATES

I don’t believe there is one single way to fine your purpose. You can star by asking a few simple question. What lights you up in life? What do you love about life. What are you good at? What do you value in Life? What motivates you to get up in the morning? Finding your purpose can take time. Keep asking why when you come up with an answer. Keep asking why until you are moved touched and inspired by that answer.

* take action in an area that you believe in. Take action around something that is important to you.* Practice self acceptance. Accept the way you are and the way you are not.. If you can learn to be happy with who you are , it an be incredibly rewarding* Create peace and Harmony regardless of what is going on in your life. Accepting situations the way the are and they way they are not. Cultivating and maintaining a sense of community will provide you with a strong support system to carry you through life’s most challenging moments.* Be grateful. Find joy in the small things- a cup of tea- the way mother nature works-the sunshine-the rain-the smiles on peoples faces. The giggling of children playing. Have morning rituals that make you appreciate life. Have evening rituals that leave you complete and at peace before going to bed. That will bring normality to you when all around might not be peaceful.* Being with whats so. Focus on the present and practice mindfulness every day . That can sustain your state of mind for optimum performance. Create an Intention for your day. Create a possibility for you to live into for that day.

Go for it!  I want on my grave stone she burned out instead of rusted out!  What do you want them to say about you?

Ask yourself are your actions and speaking in alignment with what you are committed to? Look at what are the habitual patterns that have that commitment thwarted?  Are you willing to take responsibility for when it doesn’t go that way you want or the way you expected and clean up your part?
