As we commemorate the coming into effect of our democratic Constitution. SECTION27 and WeThePeopleSA have just launched the “Know Your Constitution Handbook” to the South African Constitution. The South African Constitution was adopted by the Constitutional Assembly on 8 May 1996 and certified by the Constitutional Court in October 1996. On 10 December 1996, former President Nelson Mandela signed the Constitution into law and it came into effect on 4 February 1997.
