The kingdom of this earth says security comes when we accumulate enough savings, have enough money in retirement, pay off the house, save enough for college, have a big enough stock pile. We live in a society where millions and millions of people are in the security-engineering business. We believe if we’re clever enough, strong enough, or lucky enough, we can engineer our own security.

Jesus teaches that the human security-engineering project is a disaster. And there is a better way to think about who is safe and secure, and who is at risk.
