Charmain Woods, former policewoman and, herself, a victim of domestic abuse, tells us of the hidden underground, violence and even murder with this epidemic of domestic violence… the suffering of men women and children in frightening proportions in our very neighbourhoods.

Charmain’s life has not always been easy and her story stems from lived childhood experience with domestic violence, mental health, alcohol abuse and poverty in the family home. Charmain was homeless by before the age of 15 years. But she overcome all this adversity to achieve some amazing personal and professional life goals.
Charmain currently holds a Bachelor of Laws, Associate-Degree Paralegal, Diploma of Teaching, Diploma of Criminology, Qualified Criminal Profiler and Certificate III Business Management to name a few.
During her policing career spanning approximately 24 years with the Victoria Police Force,Charmain worked in numerous operational fields such as, Child Rape and Sexual Abuse and Corporate areas of policing as well as profiling persons and demographic areas in her role as a criminal analyst. She obtained the rank of Sergeant worked in the corporate sector of policing alongside several Chief Commissioners and Commanders
She is soon to be admitted as a Lawyer in New South Wales. She has excelled in her studies of law and is passionate to use her professional role as a lawyer to help those who are vulnerable in the community. She volunteers on numerous Boards including Lifeline Mid Coast Committee Board and Governance Board.
Charmain details not only her turbulent childhood experience but her strategies for overcoming adversity to achieving both personal and professional life dreams. She tells her story to help those who cannot and place a spotlight on important issues from the perspectiveof a domestic abuse victim.
