This week, we are honored to welcome Garrett Underwood, the visionary behind Seed House, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting youth aging out of the foster care system. In this compelling conversation, hosted by FYI Chief Growth Officer Julie Pilat, Garrett shares his remarkable journey from the fashion industry to creating a safe haven for young people facing homelessness.
Garrett recounts the pivotal moments that led him to establish Seed House, including his experiences with youth on Skid Row and the heartbreaking loss of a young man he mentored. He discusses the challenges faced by foster youth, including the complexities of transitioning into adulthood without the necessary support systems. Through his own trials, including living in a trailer to fund his mission, Garrett emphasizes the importance of community, purpose, and resilience in the face of adversity.
