Seeing Jesus Rightly | March 2, 2025

Listen Later

In this sermon for Quinquagesima Sunday, we explore Luke 18:31-43, where Jesus plainly tells His disciples about His coming suffering, death, and resurrection—yet they do not understand. However, a blind beggar outside Jericho recognizes Jesus as the Son of David and persistently cries out for mercy. While the disciples, with perfect eyesight, remain spiritually blind, this man, though physically blind, sees Jesus with the eyes of faith.

Key Scripture References:

  • Luke 18:31-43 – Jesus predicts His passion; a blind beggar receives sight by faith.
  • Isaiah 53:3-5 – The suffering servant bore our afflictions.
  • Psalm 31:1-5 – "Into Your hands I commit my spirit," a cry of trust echoed by Jesus on the cross.
  • Matthew 20:1-16 – The parable of the vineyard workers and God’s undeserved grace.

Key Themes:

  • Faith is not about seeing but trusting.
  • The cross is central to Christ’s mission—God’s mercy revealed through suffering.
  • Persistent faith clings to Christ even when others say to be silent.
