The Carolina Weather Group's James Brierton catches up with Ed Mansouri, the CEO and founder of WeatherSTEM, about his network of nearly 800 weather stations nationwide that provide live storm video, real-time weather data, and other criteria data. These stations, many of which are in both North Carolina and South Carolina, provide emergency managers with ground truth to aid with weather decision support. They also provide broadcast meteorologists with vantage points, many of which come from college and professional sports venues. The live cameras are often featured on the Carolina Weather Group's live storm coverage. Ed Mansouri also says WeatherSTEM has recently installed their first WeatherSTEM Blast system, which provides audible alarms and flashing lights ahead of severe weather, at a golf course in North Carolina.
