On the day of Pentecost, Peter announced that God raised from the dead the very Jesus they nailed to a cross. A collective conviction gripped the crowd. They cried out,"What shall we do?" Peter's sermon could never have accomplished that. What did? it was the very presence of the Risen Lord made known by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Only such a manifestation of our Lord's presence will make the church effective in the 21st century.
