Seek Nothing Just Sit_10.13.21

Listen Later

This talk is inspired by the short film "Seek Nothing, Just Sit" which Lei made me aware of. It's a documentary about practice at Antaiji in Japan. Antaiji is the temple where Shohaku Okumura first trained under his teacher, Uchiyama Roshi, who trained under Kodo Sawaki aka Homeless Kodo....It's a beautiful depiction of simple temple life and I'd like to use it as a counterpoint, as well as a point of inspiration, for our lives as lay people, sometimes simple and sometimes not so much. In this connection I will also talk about the importance of our 'home temple', Jikoji, as a place where we can engage in the style of practice depicted in this film.
