Seek The Wisdom From Above

Seek The Wisdom From Above
James 3:17
“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”
‭‭James‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
What is wisdom?
Wisdom is defined by the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.
A synonym for wisdom is common sense.
In a nutshell, I will summarize wisdom to mean the ability to know the right action to take on any and every situation - having the “know-how” of life.
The All-wise God created us in His image and in His likeness, which means wisdom for living is part of the package. Have ever stop to ponder how Adam was able to single-handedly know what to name the animals and the Bible says whatsoever he named them remains their names till today.
That is wisdom in action.
Wisdom is very important in life if we must live a life of purpose, a life of significance - one that will impact generations to come:
“Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom…”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!…”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬
How do you get wisdom?
Ask God
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” ‭‭James‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Prioritize getting wisdom
“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it costs all you have, get understanding.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬
Seek out wisdom from the word of God
“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭19:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
We know God is the All-Wise; all-knowing God, then it will be best to seek wisdom from His words
Learn from experience
Experience, they say, is the best teacher but it doesn’t necessarily have to be your own experience. The most beneficial type of experience to learn from is that of others. Why, you ask? You have the blessings of the lessons without the scars and the mistakes to show for it personally.
You learn from other people’s experience through:
reading their books
Working with a coach or mentor
“He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭13:20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
A good coach can shorten the learning curve exponentially.
(Check out Episode 3 of my podcast titled “Who is your father” for tips on how to choose a mentor)
In conclusion, the wisdom of God; the wisdom from above that we must seek is:
pure: based on God’s word & not manipulative
peaceable: not with a mentality of my way or the highway; not forceful
gentle: not boastful
willing to yield: not self-seeking
full of mercy: not revengeful
good fruits: the end result is always good
without partiality and without hypocrisy.”
Whatever counsel or advice you want to follow, must fulfill all those qualities.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, I praise you because you are the All-Wise; All-knowing God. I pray for your divine wisdom upon everyone listening or reading this devotional right now - that they no longer linger in confusion, not knowing what to do or how to go about life, but that from this moment on they will receive your wisdom for living victoriously in Jesus name! Amen! Amen!! Amen!!!
