I called this My Lyme Story because that’s how it started, and because people still write me from the middle of it.
I’m not taking that away.
What I’ve actually been writing and sharing since last November is a life: horses, a farm in Ontario, a marriage, a daughter, a business full of women, a dog at my feet, a body that doesn’t quit on schedule.
Lyme is in all of it. It isn’t the whole map. The book has a working title now: Seize the Reins.
Thanks for listening and stay tuned... I'll be back.
I’m a believer that how you do one thing is how you do everything. I thought about this on the drive home to the farm from that Pilates class in Campbellford. I had twelve minutes to run the night in my head: eight women and me.
Women. I wasn’t raised to trust them, and yet I built a business full of them.
“What else you got?” Sandra had asked after class.
I didn’t have it. Not yet.
Time for a breath. This part’s shorter and a little lighter. Nine months of writing and just past 40,000 words…
“I’d rather be crazy than to take these pills. I’m sick of being okay against my will.”
—The Glorious Sons
One girl. One horse. One long, complicated story of love, loss, and learning.
