It can benefit us in many ways e.g. to challenge ourselves to grow, however being overly self-critical can cause outcomes which don't serve us. Many of us experience this and as with many mental health topics, we may not be aware others are experiencing self criticism and doubt so it is important we are compassionate to ourselves and others.
