Honouring our Human Experience
We are a hard species - hard-skinned, heard-hearted, especially, especially when it comes to ourselves - it doesn’t seem so of course because it feels like we are always blaming , pointing fingers , judging others , condemning them: guilty guilty guilty - and so it goes - here’s another POV : we are hardest hearted when it comes to condemning ourselves, judging ourselves and not being able to forgive ourselves- consider this: we do something that hurts us, in our pain we hurt another which hurts us more and so it continues - intoxicants, distractions, destructive choices and relationships, additions, diseases - all to cloak our self condemnation - once we tag ourselves as liars, cheaters, addicts, thieves, aggressive, selfish etc, we spend our lives proving it as such - once we are called liars, thieves, cheaters by our caregivers or those we love , we spend our lives proving ourselves as such - we just can’t bring ourselves to forgive ourselves for our choices and when we can’t do that , how do we then even begin to forgive another for theirs ?
I want to talk about this - the indescribable difficulty of being human , and learning to give ourselves the grace of forgiveness for being just that: human , because until we don’t, we will continue to perpetuate the cycle to self-abuse and self-harm for the rest of our lives -
