This meditation is for the weight you’ve been carrying quietly.

The replaying.

The “I should have known.”

The moments you wish you could redo.

Self-forgiveness isn’t about pretending nothing mattered. It isn’t about excusing harm. It’s about releasing the constant punishment.

So often we find it easier to understand other people’s mistakes than our own. But healing begins when we turn that same compassion inward.

In this guided practice, you’ll gently acknowledge what you’ve been holding onto — without judgement, without drama. Through calm breathing and steady reflection, you’ll begin to soften the grip of guilt and shame. You’ll practise speaking to yourself with honesty and kindness at the same time.

This meditation supports you to:

• Release the emotional weight of past mistakes

• Replace harsh self-criticism with understanding

• Reconnect with your inherent worth

• Create space for peace instead of rumination

Self-forgiveness is not a single moment. It’s a practice. A return. A decision you may make more than once.

As you begin, find somewhere quiet and allow yourself to settle. You don’t need to force anything. You don’t need to feel instantly lighter.

Just be willing to meet yourself with a little more grace than before.

That’s where the shift begins.

Journal Prompts - Self Forgiveness

* Reflect on a recent mistake or regret that has been weighing on your mind. What emotions come up when you think about this experience? How can you practice self-compassion towards yourself in relation to this mistake?

* Think about a time when you were able to forgive someone else for a wrongdoing. How did that experience feel? How can you apply the same principles of forgiveness and compassion to yourself?

* Consider the ways in which your inner critic or self-judgment has influenced your self-perception. Write about a specific instance where you were overly harsh on yourself. How might practising self-forgiveness in that situation change your perspective?

* Imagine yourself as a close friend or loved one. How would you advise them to forgive themselves for a mistake or imperfection? Write a letter to yourself from this compassionate and understanding perspective.

* Visualise a future version of yourself who has fully embraced self-forgiveness and self-love. What does that person look like? How do they treat themselves and others? What steps can you take today to align more closely with this vision?

These prompts are designed to encourage introspection, self-compassion, and growth as you embark on your journey of self-forgiveness through meditation. Happy journaling!

(You can choose to use them all or just pick one or two.)
