The Black Wall Street may refer to Greenwood, Tulsa, Oklahoma, a neighborhood containing many African-American businesses in the early 20th century. Tulsa race riot of 1921, in which a white mob destroyed much of Greenwood.

As one of the most prominent concentrations of African-American businesses in the United States during the early 20th century, it was popularly known as America's "Black Wall Street" until the Tulsa race riot of 1921, in which white residents massacred as many as 300 black residents, injuring hundreds more, and razed.

On June 1, 1921, the Tulsa Tribune reported that nine white people and 68 black people had died in the riot, but shortly afterward it changed this number to a total of 176 dead. The next day, the same paper reported the count as nine white people and 21 black people.

The blue baby syndrome can refer to a number of conditions that affect oxygen transportation in the blood, resulting in the blueness of the skin in babies. Historically, the term "blue baby syndrome" has referred to babies with one of two conditions,

1. Cyanotic heart disease, which is a category of congenital heart defect that results in low levels of oxygen in the blood. This can be caused by either reduced blood flow to the lungs or the mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood.

2. Methemoglobinemia, which is a disease defined by high levels of methemoglobin in the blood. Increased levels of methemoglobin prevent oxygen from being released into the tissues and result in hypoxemia.

Vivien Theodore Thomas (August 29, 1910 – November 26, 1985) was an African-American laboratory supervisor who developed a procedure used to treat blue baby syndrome (now known as cyanotic heart disease) in the 1940s.
