Self-Sabotage

Do you find yourself sabotaging your own progress or relationships in your life? Or perhaps maybe you don't even realize you're the one holding yourself back but nothing seems to work out for you? If so, this episode is for you. We often self-sabotage to keep ourselfves in our comfort zone, even if our comfort zone isn't exactly comfortable, it may be chaos. This is because what is 'known' is percieved by our brains to be safer than change; however, if we want to learn, grow and evolve as people, improve our situation, or achieve goals, we must learn to get out of our comfort zone.

In this episode I discuss:

  • Examine the root cause- self-sabotaging tendencies are often a result of past trauma. This could be childhood trauma, being in a toxic relationship or cognative dissonance
  • Stop procrastinating- procrastination is a common symptom of self-sabotage. When something brings up your unaddressed fears triggers your fight, flight or FREEZE response. It's important to remind yourself you're safe as you work towards goals to prevent your subconcious brain from thwarting your efforts
  • Let go of perfectionism- people that self-sabotage often obsess about the minutae and have an all-or-nothing mentality. Learn to implement change slowly and be realistic about how much change you can handle at a given time
  • Work on your mindset- become self aware of your self-sabotaging triggers, tendencies, root cause and subconcious beliefs so that you can begin to break the pattern

We are often our own worst bully, but if you can become your own best friend and biggest cheer leader it will allow you to feel safe in your own mind, body and abilities; which will in turn allow you to pursue your goals and dreams and stop sabotaging your own progress and growth.
