“Just the belief that this was a magical thing made everyone believe they were All Stars. And it’s like, if only I had Bugs Bunny’s juice, that mojo, that placebo effect to get me through bad days.”

Disclaimer: What we talk about on In My Truth tends to be very raw and can be triggering. Resources for support and help are included at the end of show notes - scroll down for more information.

“I’m always waiting for something to happen versus taking control of it and owning it.”

Welcome everyone to this episode of In My Truth!
I have my friend Katrina Lacsam on the show today, who I met through my best mate from the time I was about 13 years old, Liam Gordon.
Katrina and I met last year when I was visiting Liam in Chicago, and we had a nice evening out despite my dengue fever! Like all of my podcast guests, Katrina and I were drawn back to each other after this brief meeting, and I’m so excited to talk to her today about her truth.
We recorded this episode of In My Truth on New Year’s Eve, a symbolic turning point for many of us and a poignant time for this conversation with Katrina Lacsam. While in the past Katrina was typically working on NYE, this year it feels more material, reflective and thankful.
So, on this day so emblematic of turning over a new leaf, let’s dive in to what Katrina is wrangling with.
-
“I always believe that if you get to the core of an issue, it doesn’t repeat."
-
Join your host Sarah Riegelhuth as she’s joined by Katrina Lacsam in this episode of In My Truth, as they dive into self-sabotage, burn out, the standards we hold ourselves to and stepping in as a parental figure in our families.
-
“It’s not that I’m lacking it, I know what unconditional love looks like, and I’m not going to waste my time chasing the fantasy of that.”
-
Listen in to the In My Truth podcast as Sarah Riegelhuth and Katrina Lacsam get deep into the stories around our motivations, self-sabotaging behaviour like drinking, being intentional about dating, and getting to really know ourselves.
-
“If only the journey there was easier!”
-
Like many of us, Sarah and Katrina are still dealing with getting to the core of issues in order to release them and stop repeating them.
How are you getting to the core of repeating problems in your life?
Katrina and Sarah also get vulnerable with the stories they’re living with around:
safety nets
inspiration
being wavy vs being grounded
getting clear on what we want
starting to date again
our behaviour and our goals
patterns and triggers
directness in dating
being called a pushover
altruism
maintaining many friendships
exploring monogamy
intentional friendships
expectations and pressures
setting boundaries with people
being in alignment
feeling trapped
shifting our relationship with alcohol
reframing our beliefs
death of loved ones
letter writing
how we process information
verbal diarrhoea
-
“If things are going to suck anyway, if there are going to be all of these challenges, I may as well enjoy what I’m doing now.”
-
Remember you’re not alone, and there is hope, even though it may not feel that way at times. Talk to someone, a friend or family member and let them support you. Reach out to a professional. Do whatever you need to do to start your journey back to feeling good.
