It seems like everywhere you turn someone is saying that some behavior is a trauma response.
Hyper independence ~ Losing hope for the future ~ Difficulty making decisions ~ Social anxiety ~ etcetera
You name the unwanted behavior and it could be attributed it to some form of micro or macro trauma.
Some of these events may seem small, but even a paper cut administered to the same spot over and over will create a deep wound.
In my work I am of the mind that overwhelming emotional events register to the nervous system as trauma.
The more often a similar event occurs the stronger the reactive response tends to be.
CPTSD (Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) is caused by long term trauma, and is experienced most often by people who have experienced ongoing physical or emotional abuse, or childhood neglect.
Join myself and the host of Living with CPTSD and ADHD podcast, Russ Germain as we discuss the effects of CPTSD, and what can be done about it.
