Welcome back everybody to the Self Storage Income Manager Podcast!
Whether you’re running a storage facility all on your own, or you’re a part of a team running a storage facility, documentation is extremely important. Tenant leases, accounting, tenant notes, maintenance task lists and schedules… the list goes on and on of everything that we have to keep track of at our storage facility.
There are a couple reasons why documentation is so critical. For one, it helps you to provide communications to yourself or your team regarding a person, situation, or task. Secondly, it serves as a record. Having record of people, situations, and tasks is equally important. These records can be used as a reference, training material, evidence for law enforcement, and ammo for a court case.
Today we wanted to share with you guys our very own 4 step process of documentation regarding tenant interaction. These steps help us and our managers ensure that everything being documented is relevant, clear, and detailed enough to provide insight on an ongoing interaction with a tenant.
We also have an incredible guest with us on the podcast today. Our very own Jennifer Miller jumps in to help shed light on our documentation process with her enormous amounts of self storage management experience.
Kick back and enjoy. Thanks everybody!
