David McIlwaine was a successful high-caliber advertising executive for 20+ years but got displaced twice from corporate decisions outside his control: one merger, and one sudden major change in operations. He opened a residential brokerage, acquired an interest in 1,000 homes, and then realized that multifamily was his next step. While he invested some passively, he is an operator and syndicator that prefers to be actively involved in daily business.
