In this third episode of SEO for startups, we explore how to small and newly-established businesses can find massive exposure from high profile media outlets, driving links, brand mentions and awareness where none previously existed. Here we explore how this not only can help sales, but also help with search engine optimization and digital marketing.
You may be wondering why so many people now rely on search engines to find products or services. Well, 93% of all online experiences start with a search. That's an astounding figure, given the fact that at any moment in time hundreds of millions of people are online and most rely more on search engines than social media recommendations when they look for products or services.
You are a startup that is looking to be funded? You must have some brilliant ideas, but one of the first things investors look for is sustainability. How visible do your website come up when people search for you online? What kind of traffic does your business get on an average monthly basis? How many visitors convert into leads and then into actual customers? Finally, how much money is coming in each month from these sales? If any of these numbers don't add up, it might be time to rethink your strategy.
A startup needs more than just great ideas if they want to attract funding from investors. They need proof that their products or services are sustainable - which means not only attracting lots of attention through online searches or getting lots of followers, but also converting those potential customers into actual ones by providing them with what they wanted and expected. A company should also show off their revenue streams each month so that there's a clear indication as to whether or not the business can continue without needing additional help.
Asking the right questions can be critical when going into a new business meeting. When they ask you how long it takes to get a return on their investment, don't give them some vague answer like "a few months." With proper SEO and good content strategy, you'll be able to show them the numbers that will start from a position of tremendous confidence. Your audience will be impressed by your knowledge and may even become paying customers themselves!
