Episode 104 Separating Artist from Art
Should we separate “bad people” that are “genius artists” from their creations? Is there a limit to what we will as a society “forgive”? What are the dangers of us doing this or not?
*Some crimes/ inappropriate sexual behaviors committed and discussed within this episode are allegations and have not been proven to be true or have been dismissed. However, there are some that have been proven, convicted and punished (even if its not enough). We try to make this distinction, but we are just people. No one sue us.
Is there a certain darkness one must have within themselves to even create art on such a magnificent level?
In this episode we discuss some of the most prolific artists of our century, and uncover some of their dirty little secrets.
When we look at artists or men from long ago, we have to take into consideration the change in climate. Not that any sexual harassment was ever acceptable behavior however, it was more accepted socially at the time.
There was a time that it was more normal to see others marrying their first cousins, but today we don't really do that anymore. Thankfully.
Genius Series on Hulu is a MUST SEE!

“If you diddle kids, I am just not going to appreciate your art.” Jessica
These terrible men like Weinstein, Cosby, Woody Allen did have an impact on our culture and art. It's actually devastating for society themselves because we have this pseudo-relationship with our favorite entertainers and entertainment.
Take Rosanne Barr, she didn't actually harm anyone. However, she was basically canceled for being her usual controversial self. While it took years to get these men out of the limelight.
“If you are going to talk about grabbing someone by the pussy..You DON'T HAVE MY VOTE...Makes me ready to burn bras and buildings.” Jessica
The ridiculous nature of Cancel Culture in which something someone said 12 plus years ago. You can't throw stones at someone for not being as evolved or enlightened as society is now...it wasn't even at that point itself then. Hold yourself to that same standard. Hopefully you have grown and evolved, who would want their tongue in cheek joke from over a decade ago to be held against them today.
There is certainly a point that you get beyond redemption.
Hollywood is being exposed more and more as a group of elite pedophile rings.
Jeffery Epstein didn't kill himself.
If something was to come out about Mister Rodgers...GASP YOU WATCH YOUR MOUTH SIR.
“The duality of the human spirit is absolutely mind blowing.” Jessica
Discussing the changes in culture and how they can affect how you view some of your favorite comedians such as Dave Chapelle.
It is harder for us to accept the flaws in those creators that are more contemporary rather than the ones that are long separated from us by decades of time.
For our fellow hippie science geeks...Here are links to some of the research done for this episode. Enjoy your decent deeper into the rabbit hole. We sure did. BIG TIME!
