September 19 - Gabrielle Grazes Newfoundland

It developed in the Gulf of Mexico on the same day as the September 11 terrorism attacks on the United States. For two days following, flights were grounded in and out of the nation. Then on the 19th, only 8 days later and with 38 planes on the ground in Gander, what was left of Gabrielle passed a short distance southeast of Newfoundland before restrengthening to reach winds of 75 mph (121 km/h). NOT AT ALL what this province needed while hosting close to 7000 expats who have no idea what’s become of their home country.
