September 4 - Hurricane Felix Flexes on Nicaragua

Central America, and in particular the country of Nicaragua was badly beaten by a violent Category 5 storm; Hurricane Felix. How bad was it? Due to the extent of the damage and the amount of people killed by this storm in Nicaragua, the name FELIX was officially retired by the World Meteorological Organization during its annual meeting in Orlando, Florida on May 13, 2008 , and will never be used again for any future Atlantic hurricanes.
