GIANT INSECT-PEOPLE IN SPACE! A great theatre production coming to you soon! Commentary and analysis for Doctor Who's  "The Web Planet!"

The TARDIS gets dragged down to the planet Vortis by a dark and mysterious force. Soon the captured Doctor and Vicki are trying to outsmart the terrifying Animus and her Zarbi (giant ant) minions in order to survive. Meanwhile Ian and Barbara find themselves assisting the Manaptra (Butterfly-like creatures) in a rebellion to reclaim their planet.

IAN: Those things out there.
DOCTOR: Well, to use the term of Earth, I suppose we should call them insects.
IAN: Ants? I've seen a colony of ants eat their way right through a house. That size, they could eat their way through a mountain. Why are they that big?
DOCTOR: Size is only relative. In this rarified atmosphere, it appears that evolution has chosen that particular form of life on this planet.
IAN: Ants.
DOCTOR: Yes.
