This week marks a first for us - a two parter! And it's sees Craig telling us about one of the most brutal unsolved serial killers, the case of the Monster of Florence.
The Monster of Florence was a serial killer who murdered 14 people between 1974 and 1985 in the Italian province of Florence. He also believed to be involved and/or responsible for a double homicide dating back to 1968 and was also connected to the Monster's murders in 1982.
The victims were young amorous couples parked or camped in the countryside. The murderer used a .22 caliber Beretta gun and scuba knife, and in half of the cases excised sex organs from the bodies of the female victims the removal of which appeared to be the motive for the crimes. This led him to also be dubbed the Italian Jack the Ripper.
In this episode we find out about the initial crimes and suspects before examining the initial link to a murder from 1968.
Tune in next week for part two, where we examine the cases of the early 80s and the investigations and arrests that followed.
