Today in the church year we remember that Jesus and His disciples gathered in an upper room in Jerusalem to celebrate the Jewish Passover. During that meal Jesus gave them a new commandment - that they should love one another - and instituted a new covenant with them, sealed with the sacrifice of His own body and blood that are in the bread and wine that we eat and drink in the Lord’s Supper.
