If Jesus is our great high priest, why is he not a Levite? In other words, why do we need a new priesthood? Because the old priesthood was ineffective at bringing people near to God. Because the old priesthood was attached to a covenant that has been replaced. And because the old priesthood has been superseded by a greater priest and covenant.
