In this edition of UBC "Sermon Discussions" Pastor Jason answers questions related to his Genesis 38:1-30 sermon.
The main idea for the sermon was: The same God who has a startling response to sin has startling redemption for sinners.
Questions discussed in this episode:
God struck down Er and Onan for being evil, but not Judah. Why does he kill some people who are evil, but not others?
In our passage, we saw the practice of levirate marriage which required men to have sex with family members. In today’s world, it’s illegal for people to be sexually active with their own family members. Why was it OK back then?
In your shepherding of God's church, do you feel as though Christians take sin seriously or do they have a carefree attitude towards it?
In your sermon you encouraged people to turn from sexual immorality. Is sexual sin worse than other sins? Why or why not?
Can you speak to the dangers of pornography and why it is not something Christians can just ignore?
