The drama of God’s work in and through the family of Abraham and Sarah continues.  In Genesis chapter 22 God directs Abraham to sacrifice his son – and apparent heir to The Promise – Isaac.  In a scene that could come straight out of a Cecil B. DeMille film, God stops Abraham just moments before the act and provides an alternative.  And all of us in the audience are able to exhale.  “Surprised With Life” is the title of my message this Sunday, a reflection on how God has and continues to, offer us life in unexpected ways, and in the most dire of circumstances.
