At the end of chapter 2 and the beginning of chapter 3, Paul addresses how the believers in Colossae have gone from insiders to outsiders—from residents to exiles—and how they should live in light of that transformation.

Just like this church, we are tempted to conform to the values and idols of a secular society. The gospel, however, both frees us from fear and empowers us to live on mission.
