Eternal Life Evidence

Sermon - John 13

Listen Later

John 13:1F Jesus is our Minister = Servant, are you His?

Timing is very important to God, Ecclesiastes 3:1-3
Galatians 4:4; Mark 1:15
Time is fulfilled; Matthew 8:29
Demons know Luke 8:31
Mark 8:31; 9:31; 10:33; delivered, betrayed
Luke 9:44-45; disciples didn’t understand.

Jews were trying to kill Him after His first year at His 2nd Passover John 5:18
Then at the feast of booths – Sept. 29 AD – His 3rd and final year, John 7:1,2
Jesus is in control when He was going to be killed as He states in John 10:17-18
Then at the feast of dedication, Hanukkah - Dec. 29 AD 3 months John 10;31,39-40
The apostles don’t understand John 11:8,16; Resurrects Lazarus – vs.53,54; Passover vs.55

John 12:1-11 dinner at Lazarus home, anointed by Mary; Judas greed Vs.5,6 Triumphal entry vs.13.
Greeks show up Vs.20; Now the hour has come Vs.23; now judgement Vs.31; Word vs.48;

John 13:1 – His hour was His death – He loved them to the end!
John 13:34,35; To love one another. Regardless of who it is? Yes Vs.5,12-17;

He loved Judas to the very end – even knowing Judas was going to betray Him. John 13:2,3
Matthew 26:3-5; not during the Passover; Matthew 26:14-16; Judas came forward.
Luke 22:1-6; Satan entered him, James 4:7; resist the devil and he will flee from you.
But Judas worshipped money Matthew 6:24; Because Judas was a thief John 12:6
John 13:21, 25-27; who did Jesus speak to, was Judas that smart to do it quickly?

Satan had to convince the chief priests, this was it, showing that Jesus was in full control. John 10:17
To the time and place of His arrest and even execution. They hurried because they feared the crowds.
But Jesus wanted it done quickly, 3 trials by Jews, 3 trials by Gentiles, executed on 14th of Abib, Passover.
Knowing all this He still loved Judas to the very end, He still washed Judas feet, Father forgive them…

Jesus also loved Peter to the very end, even knowing what Peter was about to do.
Peter has always been a bad example for the rest of the disciples – Matthew 14:28-31; 16:21-23
Now here John 13:6-11, 36-38; Matthew 26:33-35; But Jesus loved Him to the end. Luke 22:31-34
Even knowing the character of Peter, all his faults, Jesus loved Him to the very end.

We are given a new commandment – John 13:34-35; to love one another to the very end.
Even if you know your brother’s faults and short comings, no judgement here.

As Jesus loved Judas and as He loved Peter, who knows how your brother will respond? That is not up to you decide, you need to be willing to forgive, you need to wash their dirty feet. Leave the response up to them, you do what Christ has called you to do. Love them to the end. Some may go the way of Judas and be caught up with this world, BUT some may go the way of Peter and become a great worker in the kingdom of the Lord. You can’t know, you can only do what Christ has called for ALL of us to do.

You must love your brothers and sisters, all equally, to the very end, of your life.
