As Christ continues to lay out his unique role in redemption, he does not back away from his absurdly grandiose claims, stating that all who follow him will never die, that he is indeed greater than the fathers and the prophets, and even, in the end, that he is God himself. And the crowd reacts as you might if you encountered such grandiose, absurd statements.
