This year most of the Gospel lessons are in the Gospel according to Saint Mark. These readings talk about Jesus’ teachings, His miracles, and His action-packed ministry. But each of the readings also has a “takeaway” from Jesus Himself! We’re focusing on these “red-letter” verses this year.
In today’s Gospel lesson, a rich young man comes to Jesus with an important question - and Jesus gives him an even more important answer that the young man didn’t expect. And Jesus follows it up with an invitation that the young man sadly declines. The invitation is the “red letter verse” for today, from Mark chapter 10 - it’s verse 21 - Jesus said,“Come, follow Me.”
