In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus warns us about practicing our righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them. To help us understand how this warning applies to our lives, Jesus gives three examples: giving, praying, and fasting. This list isn't meant to be exhaustive, it represented the primary disciplines associated with a religious person in that day.
