The theme for the second week of Advent is Peace. Rev. Mitchell Boone explored peace through the lens of Luke 3:2-16, specifically John the Baptist in the wilderness baptizing people and calling people to live lives of compassion and generosity. John uses harsh language to get the attention of all present, and pushes them to not trust the ways of the empire, but the ways of love and peace. Mitchell reminds us that peace is not just the absence of conflict, but a holistic experience of those who live in shalom - the peace of God.
Note, Mitchell is still excited to get his "brood of vipers" pillow.
