Have you ever had a conversation with someone, where you think you’re talking about one topic but the other person has an entirely different subject in mind?  If you have, you know that the result can sometimes be hilarious, but other times downright frustrating.  Our “red letter verse” for today comes out of exactly that kind of situation, a conversation between Jesus and His disciples that is about – well, what, exactly?

This summer most of the Gospel lessons are in the Gospel according to Saint Mark. These readings talk about Jesus’ teachings, His miracles, and His action-packed ministry. But each of the readings also has a “takeaway” from Jesus Himself! We’re focusing on these “red-letter” verses this summer. Here’s this week’s, from Mark chapter 8, verse 15: “Watch out for the yeast!”
