Many people seem to be wary of taking on leadership responsibility. Perhaps they’re afraid of the time commitment. Or they’re afraid of making a mistake. Perhaps they don’t think they’re qualified. But we need more leaders. Not just leaders in the church, by the way, but leaders at home, and leaders in business, and political leaders. We need more Christ-followers who are willing to lead well. To provide a vision that others can follow, to help people to follow God. We need more leaders to rise up to the occasion.

Many people talk about leadership these days. There are many leadership “gurus” and books and blogs and articles published about leadership. I have read many myself – both secular and spiritual. But you know, the best leadership resource I’ve ever encountered is the Bible itself. Studying the life of Jesus will tell you everything you need to know really, about how to lead well.

A great leadership verse is found in Philippians, where Paul wisely says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves" (Philippians 2:3). If you really want to reach your world, take on the challenge of leading others well by serving them. Do it today!
