In recent years, secular business leaders have been adopting the notion of “servant leadership.” Servant leadership is defined as a “philosophy and set of practices that enriches the lives of individuals, builds better organizations, and ultimately creates a more caring world”.
For a long time, corporate culture has been about the me factor. So, why the change to servant leadership? As it turns out, companies where bosses demonstrated a servant’s heart showed higher job satisfaction, less employee turnover, and more productivity. Servant leadership is just good business practice. And who demonstrated this better than anyone else? Jesus Christ, of course!
The Bible says in Mark 10:44, “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be a slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
This week, one way you can open the door to conversations about Jesus is by serving people. Whether it’s at work, at home, or with your friends, offer to serve with a loving heart. I guarantee people in your world will take notice, and this will be a fabulous opportunity to talk about the ultimate servant leader, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This is Luis Palau.
