Overview: In this message, Pastor John looks at another early servant of God who followed where His Holy Spirit led. His name was Phillip. He was chosen as a servant to God and the people along with six other men.--Phil started as a deacon and then became a traveling preacher. As the church grew, so did the persecution and as the persecution grew, so did the church--- The blood-lust of murderous people was excited - further aroused by the death of Steven. This caused the believers in Jerusalem to scatter to other regions and lands. As they did, they spread the news of God's Messiah. This caused exponential growth.-- As Philip told people about the Messiah, he also healed people. Many were set free from demonic possessions - they believed. A lot of crippled and lame people were also healed. This was exactly what Jesus said would happen- -Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also- and greater works than these shall he do- because I go unto my Father.- -John 14-12--- Another thing covered in this message is the account of Simon the magician who became a believer. But when he tried to buy the ability to impart the Holy Ghost upon others, Peter rebuked him. Nobody can purchase the power of God--- Phil converted an Ethiopian as he was returning to his homeland. This is where we find a clear lesson on the earliest baptism classes. We learn the instruction Phil gave to this new convert and we learn the length of the instruction. We also learn the method of baptism. All of this can be useful for believers as they bring others to Christ.
