Hypocrisy is a deadly sin destroying the credibility of the Christian. It is quite anti-gospel and anti-faith in God. The genuine lover of God has the same passion as Paul for God's glory, that we each represent God faithfully to our neighbor, and for the salvation of sinners. You want your neighbor to enter into covenant with Jesus. So we want to know if Paul will tell us how to seek and destroy hypocrisy in our own hearts. He does so in this second imperative and the applicatory verses which follow.
