the breakthrough sessions

session 12: the academic and health juggle with Rea Seletisha

Listen Later

In this episode I had the pleasure of speaking with Rea Seletisha, where we discuss her health struggles and how they impacted the progression of her studies. Rea is a final year Bcom Financial Sciences student, and an aspiring internal auditor. She is a member of the Golden - Key honor society, a common purpose alumnus, and has affiliations with LeaderEx, JSE SHE invests and STARS mentionship, just to name a few. She has a passion for personal development, education and improving the lives of young women. And most importantly, her mantra is: Own your narrative, because I am, and I matter. In our session Rea shared how her health journey pushed her to transfer between degrees, but also helped her to discover her passion for internal audit in the process. She also discusses how her health struggles affected her friendship and family dynamics, and she shares the coping mechanisms that helped her to juggle her academics and her health, and how they continue to help her to break through her struggles day in and day out. Rea is a true reminder of doing everything in your power to fulfill your dreams, despite the odds. And she continues to be an inspiration for others on a daily basis.  For more on her journey follow her on Instagram and Facebook @reabetsweseletisha. And feel free to follow 'the breakthrough projects' on Instagram for more good content. Enjoy this episode, and remember that even if you feel the fear, do it anyways.
