In this solo episode I delve deep into emotional intelligence (EI), and how having a high EI can benefit you in a tertiary space. Unlike IQ which is fixed, emotional intelligence is a spectrum that you can shift along depending on your emotions and response to situations. Tertiary can greatly help to build your EI, which can teach you how to approach these obstacles and overcome the challenges of varsity life. In my session I place emphasis on 5 characteristics that can describe emotional intelligence, as coined by American Psychologist Daniel Goleman. These include: self - awareness, self - regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. I also discuss these elements in detail and how they can help to reach academic success. Finally I discuss a quiz that you can take on mindtools.com to figure out where you lie on the emotional intelligence spectrum. Hope you're able to benefit from this one!
