This session we are spotlighting our wonderful friends at Vitala Global—specifically Aya Contigo, their amazing abortion accompaniment app. Originally conceived and implemented in Venezuela, where abortion is extremely restricted, a version of this app is now available in the US.
Aya Contigo works to accompany people through their abortion and contraception journeys in both Spanish and English. (Think of the app as an abortion doula in your pocket!) Communities all over the world have figured out ways to navigate harsh legal landscapes and help one another get abortions. The team behind Aya Contigo drew on a wealth of real-life experiences and research in creating this ground-breaking app. We believe that virtual accompaniment will prove incredibly valuable for many of us as we continue to navigate the increasingly tricky abortion landscape in the US.
In this session, we will talk with Vitala co-founder Genevieve Tam about how the app works, the research behind it, how folks can use it, why this app is important in the US right now, and more.
