A gripping, emotional read!

Romance, mystery, angst: London Setterby gets the balance just right in this gothic contemporary about a woman on the run from her dangerous, controlling ex.

Miranda Lewis lands in a place thatâs about as remote as it getsâa rocky island off the coast of Maine, where she hopes to get her feet back under her. But the island is not quite the peaceful refuge sheâd hoped for. Some of the locals are welcoming, but others are prickly and evasive. Worst of all, Owen Larsen, the one man sheâs instinctively drawn to, is viewed with fear and loathing by a good percentage of his fellow islanders. The mysterious death of his artist girlfriend years ago has left a pall of suspicion hanging over him. The tension escalates as a series of violent incidents divide the town even further. Miranda isnât sure she can trust her gutâespecially when every other person seems to think Owen is a killer.

This is an enjoyable, fast read, well written, with shades of Daphne DuMaurierâs classic Rebecca. And it even has a pack of gentle Great Danes named after the British Romantic poets!
