A while back I heard a quote from Seth Godin talking about his community. He said, “People like us do things like this.”
In typical Seth fashion, that statement is equally profound and impressively simple.
Think about your tribe, your crowd, your crew, whatever you call them. How do people in your audience know they belong in your group?
Is it a behavior pattern? Is it a solidarity against or for a movement or cause?
Today, I want you to make a list of the desired characteristics or traits you would love to see consistently show up in your crowd. These could be values or traits like resilience, passion, loyalty, grace, spontaneity, or any number of other options.
The key is answering the question, “What do people in my audience do that I would love to see more of in the world around me?”
That’s the trait you want to encourage. Those are the values and behaviors you want to model for your crowd.
