The peak tornado season in Kansas runs from April to June with the state averaging 95 tornadoes per year. Kansas also experiences damaging winds, large hail, and both general and flash flooding during the spring and summer. Kansas State University assistant state climatologist Mary Knapp says now is the time to prepare a plan for what you’ll do when severe weather alerts are issued for your area.
