Sex & Relationships

Listen Later

Part three of our Refine Night series - Sex & Relationships

My heart beat for this sermon is to make us rethink how we view, think and talk about sex and relationships in the church and culture alike! I pray this leads you to seek biblical truth and application of these ideas. Like always you can reach me personally at:

Quote from opening:

God made each of us and invented sex — why would we act like we know better than him? God warns us that sexual immorality leads to pain, shame, slavery, and ultimately judgment — why would we risk so much for a little pleasure now? God bought our forgiveness, freedom, and purity with the blood of his own Son — an infinite cost — why would we heap more sin on his shoulders and drive the nails even deeper? God waits with open arms to welcome us into a never-ending adventure of peace and happiness with him — why would we trade it away for a few seconds of satisfaction? – Marshal Segal (Desiring God)

Points:

1. God created the men and women unique in role, but equal in worth! Jesus died the same to redeem both!

2. Our ultimate purpose, joy, fulfillment is in Jesus and His church. Our relationship status is secondary!

3. Sex and relationships are beautiful truths, but deadly if we misuse and abuse them sinfully!

Questions:

1. How have I thought about relationships? Simply an earthly pleasure or an eternal representation?

2. The realm of sex and physical interaction, is it simply physical or do we see the connection to our souls?

3. What other stigmas have you found in Christian culture or dating culture that are more harmful than good?
